The economic situation in voivodships
The Central Statistical Office (GUS) presented data on the economic situation of the provinces in January 2022. The wielkopolskie voivodeship was the region with the lowest unemployment rate (3.2%). The highest level of wages in industry was recorded in dolnośląskie voivodeship (PLN 6,691) and in construction - in mazowieckie voivodeship (PLN 7,761). The highest pace of industrial production growth in annual terms was recorded in mazowieckie voivodship (by 32.2%). In terms of construction production, the highest dynamics was achieved in świętokrzyskie voivodeship (by 85.2%).
Unemployment
In January, the number of registered unemployed was 927.1 K people and was by 31.9 K higher than at the end of December 2021 and by 163.3 K lower than last year. The unemployment rate, 5.5% at the end of January, was higher by 0.1 percentage point than a month earlier and lower by 1 percentage point than a year ago. It is worth mentioning that January usually brings a deterioration in the unemployment statistics. This is due to, inter alia, adjusting the staffing levels in companies to the current possibilities and the level of orders. The highest registered unemployment was recorded in January in warmińsko-mazurskie voivodship (9.0%) and the lowest in wielkopolskie (3.2%).
Wages in industry and construction
The average wage in January 2022 for the entire country was PLN 5,963 in industry and PLN 5,941 in construction. Compared to January 2021, wages in industry increased by 8.2% and in construction by 12.1%. The highest average wage in industry was recorded in dolnośląskie voivodeship - PLN 6,691. In January 2022, for average salaries above 6,000 PLN could also be counted by employees in the following voivodeships: mazowieckie (PLN 6,576), śląskie (PLN 6,215) and pomorskie (PLN 6,101). The lowest wages were received by employees in podlaskie voivodeship (5,248 PLN). In construction, the highest salaries were paid in January in mazowieckie voivodship (an average of PLN 7,761). The lowest level of wages was recorded in the lubelskie voivodeship (PLN 4,477).
Industry - production and efficiency
In January 2022, the sold industrial production increased by 19.2% y/y. The increase in production was recorded in all regions, with the mazowieckie voivodship at the forefront, where production increased by 32.2% annually. Over 20 percent sales increased also in the following voivodeships: podkarpackie (25.2%), podlaskie (23.9%), zachodniopomorskie (22.4%), łódzkie (22.0%) and małopolskie (20.6%). The lowest growth rate of sold production was observed in the following voivodships: wielkopolskie (increase by 7.7%) and dolnośląskie (by 7.8%). Productivity in industry in January this year increased in all voivodships - by an average of 17.6% for the entire country. The highest increase was recorded in the mazowieckie (30.5%) and łódzkie (20.1%) voivodships.
Construction - production and efficiency
The sold production in construction in January 2022 increased nationwide by 31.3% y/y. Positive annual growth results were recorded in all regions. The best result in January was achieved by the following voivodeships: świętokrzyskie (increase by 85.2%), pomorskie (increase by 84.5%), opolskie (71.7%), lubuskie (by 69.3%). The lowest increase (by 3.2%) was recorded in podlaskie voivodeship. Productivity in construction in January 2022 also increased in all voivodeships - by an average of 30.1% y / y. The highest increases were recorded in the świętokrzyskie and pomorskie voivodships (85.6% and 84.9% respectively).
Housing market
In January, 15,315 flats were commissioned for use, which is 12.5% less than in the corresponding period of 2021. The highest increase was recorded in the kujawsko-pomorskie voivodship (by 64.4%) and the highest decrease in the lubelskie voivodship - by 51.1%.
