Increase in amount of non-compete fine
On 1 September 2023, the maximum amount of a fine, imposed under the Hungarian Competition Act, increased significantly from 10% to 13% of the net turnover of the undertaking or group of undertakings of which the undertaking subject to the fine is a member in the business year preceding the decision.
Enforcement of Digital Markets Act
The Hungarian Competition Authority ("HCA") has been given new powers to enforce the EU Digital Markets Act ("DMA"). The HCA may initiate proceedings to determine whether digital platform providers with a significant market impact comply with their obligations under the DMA. The HCA shall report the results of its investigation to the European Commission responsible for enforcing the DMA.
